Body Image Perceptions Project

Jaden Jennings completed a capstone project about body image perceptions in college-aged women on social media. I looked at and analyzed sports teams, military groups and sorority groups based off of what new media such as TikTok and Instagram did to their body image perceptions, she said. Jennings found that COVID-19 had a major impact on how women perceived their bodies and how they coped with feelings of insecurity. For instance, eating disorders were brought about through creators what I eat in a day TikTok and Instagram posts, along with other problems. Jennings had the opportunity to present her study at the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication Midwinter Conference in March 2022 in Oklahoma.

Npi Validation Check Digit Calculation

The following table explains the step by step NPI number validation process using the ISO standard Luhn algorithm.

Start with the original NPI number, the last digit is the check digit and is not used in the calculation.
1
Step 1: Double the value of the alternate digits, beginning with the rightmost digit.
2 4 8
Step 2: Add all the doubled and unaffected individual digits from step 1 plus the constant number 24.
2 + 9 + 0 + 2 + 1 + 6 + 1 + 1 + 6 + 4 + 8 + 24 = 64
Step 3: Subtract the total obtained in step 2 from the next higher number ending in zero, the result is the check digit.
70 – 64 = 6 6

The NPI number 1902818446 is valid because the calculated check digit 6 using the Luhn validation algorithm matches the last digit of the original NPI number.

What Are People Saying About Speech & Occupational Therapy Of North Texas

Testimonial

Here are some reviews from our users.

“My son has been receiving services from Speech and OT of North Texas for about three years and we have never regretted our decision to make them a part of our family. The therapists are so knowledgeable and helpful. They are willing to talk with me after my son’s session, explaining what he accomplished and what we can do at home.Even though the office staff doesn’t necessarily work with my son, they are just as caring and supportive to our family as the therapists. They say “hi” and talk with him when he comes into the office. They are so willing to help when the insurance is being difficult or I am having a hard time understanding something.Speech and OT of North Texas has been and will continue to be a wonderful place that can help my son accomplish his goals!”

“We have been so pleased with the therapists at Speech & OT of North Texas, Frisco. They have increased my daughter’s skills so much and honestly I have been shocked by how much progress my daughter has made since her start with them last year. Also, the office staff is top notch and works hard to manage our complicated scheduling and insurance issues. I strongly recommend Speech & OT of North Texas!”

“My son started speech therapy here a year ago, and now we’ve added OT. I can NOT say enough good things about the entire facility. My son can be very difficult, but EVERYONE is always so kind and patient.”

    Reasons For Speech Therapy

    Pediatric Occupational and Speech Therapy

Speech and swallowing disorders stem from many types of causes such as those who were victim to a stroke, brain injury, closed brain injuries, hearing loss, cleft palate, CP, stress, and developmental deficits. ST duties go far beyond speech deficits such as stuttering problems in children and adults. ST involves the matter in which a patient communicates and responds to other people. A speech therapist helps patients with impairments in language where the person has difficulty developing sentence structures and letter to sound issues known in schools as phonics and reading comprehension. ST assesses those who may have difficulties with their voice. Is the patients voice too loud, too soft, too raspy, or too shrill. The type of voice one has, can negatively affect social and professional activity.

This ST professional works with children as they are beginning to speak but language disorders are apparent. Possible language disorders could include:

    • Speech sound disorders
    • Parents or guardians

Specializing in children Partnering with families!

Speech & OT of North Texas utilizes a partnership model for therapy. Evidence-based practices have established that children make the most significant strides in therapy when the families are an integral part of the process. This is why we ask that a family or approved caregiver join the therapist for the last 5 minutes of treatment. In some situations a family may want to stay longer. This time helps the family to better understand the strategies and structure that lead to success.

The therapist typically will provide homework or activities to be addressed between sessions. This teamwork time also gives the therapist and family the freedom to discuss progress, concerns and new strategies in a confidential environment. Following this model is the best use of a familys time and financial resources.

We are here to help your child meet their greatest potential within our scope of practice!
