Skillshare: American Sign Language Level 1
First up on my list is a fantastic Skillshare class taught by ASL instructor Manny Martin from The Intellezy Trainers. This course gives students a foundational knowledge of ASL. Students also get an informative overview of the history of ASL and some insight into the field of deaf education.
This ASL I course will cover alphabet letters, numbers from 1 to 100, colors, animals, food and drink, verbs, and emotions, and it will help students with their storytelling skills. Upon completing the course, students should be able to use ASL to demonstrate a short story.
In conjunction with the on-demand video lessons, students are also given a downloadable PDF workbook to take notes on and assess their learning as they go.

These degrees have been designed to align with the goals of the students in mind. This is the first course in a two-course sequence and focuses on everyday communication in American Sign Language for the Deaf. It introduces students to the basic signs, techniques, and cultural knowledge, which will support the students to start signing beginning level conversational ASL. Each lesson is built upon a familiar topic such as family, self and friends so that students will find meaningful connection to the lessons. Students will be asked to use various media tools including online resources, online dictionaries, a web cam, and the web-based Video Notes tool in Brightspace in order to record their performance in assignment submissions throughout the course. Students will be producing their own signing videos to demonstrate their learning. The goal of this course is to help develop fundamental ASL skills, and to understand Deafness, knowledge, and interest that students will need to advance to the higher levels of ASL courses.

Fingerspelling is one of the foundational elements of ASL.
Ashley Clark Fry, the creator of Signed With Heart, was born deaf to hearing parents and teaches ASL through social media. A majority of her content across YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram is available for free, and she also teaches a mini-course on fingerspelling.
The class, which is recommended by ASL Meredith, focuses on learning the ASL alphabet and using it in conversation. It covers correct hand usage, using and reading fingerspelling, and commonly confused fingerspelling letters.

Next on my list is another great class taught by instructor and ASL educator JP Cappalonga, who has designed this course for complete beginners who want to learn the basics of ASL.
Each lesson that JP teaches is followed by a practice lesson that allows students to practice what they have just learned. This will help students retain the information and build a strong foundation. How Long Does It Take To Learn Sign Language
