Hartmann is a writer, publishing more than twenty books on diverse topics. The title with the most critical acclaim is The Last Hours of Ancient Sunlight. In 1999, he was invited by the Dalai Lama to spend a week in Dharamsala after the Dalai Lama finished reading this book. Hartmann won the Project Censored Award in 2004 for Unequal Protection. As a result of a book on spirituality, The Prophet’s Way, he was invited in 1998 to meet Pope John Paul II.

Trained in the 1970s in Neuro-Linguistic Programming by Richard Bandler , Hartmann popularized some of its concepts in Cracking the Code , arguing Newt Gingrich and Frank Luntz made use of them in the 1980s and 1990s for Republican Party causes, and advocates using them to advance liberalism. His book Healing ADD also leans heavily on NLP techniques. Co-authored with Lamar Waldron, Hartmann’s Ultimate Sacrifice released in 2005 states the Mafia ordered the assassination of John F. Kennedy and Lee Harvey Oswald was a CIA agent and patsy.

Hartmann was one of several contributors to Air America, the Playbook, a 300-plus page collection of essays, transcripts, and interviews by liberal radio personalities. It was published shortly before the 2006 Congressional elections, and was on The New York Times Best Seller List for October 8, 2006.

Hartmann served on the board of Voqal, a collaboration of EBS licensees working to advance social equity.

The Big Picture with Thom Hartmann is an American TV talk/news show owned, hosted and produced by political commentator and radio host Thom Hartmann, and Hartmann’s production company , Mythical Research, Inc., and is represented by WYD Media, Inc. The Big Picture started in 2008 in Portland, Oregon, as a half-hour TV show and was originally syndicated exclusively on Free Speech TV.

Over the next few years, more community TV stations and cable systems picked it up, and Hartmann moved to Washington, DC, taking both his radio show and The Big Picture with him. With that move, he expanded the show to an hour, and also licensed the show to RT, partially in exchange for use of their television studios and facilities. While the show is licensed to RT, it is entirely owned by Hartmann’s company, which has contractual editorial control over the program. The editorial staff of the show are employees of Hartmann’s company, while the TV production staff work for RT.

Until September 2011, RT personality Lucy Kafanov filled in for Hartmann when he was unavailable. With this newfound power to buy politicians and to shape American policy, CEOs and the very rich could have done anything. They could have ended childhood poverty. They could have made sure every American had a quality education at no cost. They could have given every American free, quality healthcare like in other developed nations.

Instead, they went after tax breaks to undo FDRs raising the top income tax bracket to 91% in the late 1930s and early 1940s. And were still suffering for it.

The fruit of those two SCOTUS decisions was Ronald Reagan floating into the White House on a tsunami of fossil fuel money he and bought-off Republicans in Congress then obediently dropped the top 74% personal tax bracket and the top 55% corporate income tax bracket down to 25% each. While theyve risen slightly since then, theyre still filled with loopholes when it comes to the very, very rich and giant companies.

As a result, most morbidly rich individuals and large American corporations now pay virtually nothing in income taxes and have become fabulously richer. You and I shoulder the bill to run our government, paying as much as 50% of our earnings in income taxes every year .

When the law required the IRS to audit President Trumps taxes in 2018, for example, that agency was able to come up with one lonely guy to do the job, something that would have taken him two or three decades to just cover one year.

It wasnt always this way.

The answer is, Never.

This morning when I tried calling the Show – for the first time from the i Phone app, the party that answered had an automated screening/ greeting that did not identify themselves, and began asking me questions about my health. Then when I answered , i was taken to a salesperson who again did it identify their company and who “congratulated” me for earning a free medical device. I said “no thank you” and hung up. And now i am letting you all know.I also think it’s suspicious how often Thom H. Show’s phone lines are on the blink.
