Grand Hotel / Metstasis
Just like we repackage and remake foreign language hits, so do those foreign language markets. If youre a Breaking Bad fan going through withdrawals, rejoice! The AMC series got a do-over as Metástasis in Colombia with even more of a cartel edge than its predecessor. Likewise, prim and proper Downton Abbey diehards may dig the spinoff Grand Hotel, which keeps the framework of secretive servants and naughty upper-class divas with a few twists.
Mexico may not be as steeped in aristocracy as England, but its in no short supply of wealthy landowners and Spanish-descended royalty to fill a hotel. Bonus points to the telenovela for incorporating a few murder mysteries to the mix.

Best Spanish Shows On Netflix: Elite
Seasons: 4
Starring: Itzan Escamilla, Omar Ayuso, Claudia Salas, Georgina Amorós, Carla Díaz, Martina Cariddi, Manu Ríos, Pol Granch and Andrés Velencoso
Elite is one of Netflixs top Spanish series and its now on its fifth season. Elite season 5 is coming to Netflix on April 8! A sixth season is also in development.
Elite begins with three working-class students who get scholarships to the elite school, Las Encinas in Spain. But their transfer to the exclusive private school causes a clash between them and the wealthy students, leading to murder.
Its filled with drama, suspense, and plenty of thrills. There are so many relationships to root for and be against. The mysteries are compelling and leave you wanting more. But I think whats most enjoyable about Elite is the amazing character development. Over the seasons, viewers get to see all of the characters grow. Of course, the amazingly talented cast is a plus, too!
Although Elite touches on many sensitive topics and can be very dark at times, there are enough humorous moments to balance it out.
If you enjoy shows like Gossip Girl, Riverdale and How to Get Away with Murder, Elite is just the show for you.
The Day I Met El Chapo
In this fascinating docuseries, Mexican actress Kate del Castillo presents her side of the now-infamous meeting between notorious drug trafficker El Chapo, Sean Penn, and herself.
Ive always admired del Castillo for her strong convictions and badass female roles, but here her ambition and naïveté get her into deep trouble. Sean Penn outs himself as a total slimebag, and Kate becomes a convenient scapegoat for the corrupt Mexican government.
Interesting insights into Mexican culture and lots of colloquial Mexican Spanish.
